It has been more than once that I didn't post on Monday - it is happening again. We have had house"guests" for the past week and a half. I say "guests" because it is family so not sure I really mean "guests". We traveled to C-Bus this weekend so that they could visit with a sibling and we could help R & K paint the baby's room. The other K came over too and helped; swing, chair, tummy mat, etc. is put together and filling up space. The room is painted - I think it needs a little touchup, my OCD coming out! Surprise!!!! Needs wall art of some kind but not sure they have made up their minds on what to hang. They have been shopping for a dresser and bookshelf too, it is coming together.

We enjoyed the visit with the girls and R - always have a good time. Didn't clean this time and I would like to help them more but time was flying so need to do that another time. Hmmmm - time. The little one will be here soon and it made it very apparent when things were being put in place. I am excited. Can't wait to have another grandchild. Wish my mom could have met these babies, she would have been in her glory.

Mac is here today but I was "off" yesterday. Went to the dr. and returned the rest of K's duplicate gifts. She has many gift cards to use once she has her shower in C-Bus. Guests were gone too, having dinner with yet another sibling in Detroit after a day at MSU. On Monday, dinner was had with the other local sibling. I think dad gets a night tonight for dinner here at the house - fish and shrimp. They sent a box of fish, shrimp, berries, jelly prior to arriving so cooking will be done tonight. It should be good.

J has arrived home safely after 5 1/2 weeks in China. So glad he made it home safe and sound, it has been a long time. I know not as long as others fighting for our country but it still is odd when he has never been gone that long before. I know G is happy too!

Have a good rest of the week! Need to job hunt some more today.

Another again...

Another weekend has come and gone - time truly flies. We had lots of plans this weekend with K's shower and Mac's birthday party. Family was in abundance and that made it so much more fun.

The shower was beautiful; again K was not just showered but poured upon. There are things she wants but not a thing she needs. She will have one more shower in C-Bus so hopefully wait until that is finished to go shopping. She looked so cute and she held up well. The food was deeeelish and the drinks were fantabulous! Homemade cherry limeades - from Sonic website recipe!

Mac's bday party was very nice; the weather was perfect, family, friends, and many, many, many gifts. She will have much to do until the holidays roll around when mom and dad will need to build another room on the house. Ha, a house is never big enough.

We have family in now from yonder...for a couple of weeks...lots more will happen I'm sure.

Have a great week!

Timely...

Once in a great while I am on time...today is the first for quite a while. R is gone this week, thru Saturday late. Dinners will be sparse. So far cereal for breakfast, leftovers for lunch and then, hmmmm.

Monday - see above
Tuesday - out w/girls(not my girls)
Wednesday - Baked Potato and broccoli
Thursday - shop for shower and maybe I will pick something up at the store
Friday - K and B will be here so we will see, maybe B will cook? (If you are reading, what do you think?)
Saturday - K's shower
Sunday - Mac's 1st bday - just cannot believe it!

We had Mac overnight Friday - so much fun. I think R and K saw how much that little one can move. She does not stop unless she is eating or sleeping. We took her to the airport to watch planes; she tracks them over the house so thought why not start showing her. We went to the cell phone lot at the end of the runway in Detroit. She was watching, and running around and then the big one came. A 747 - wow! It was huge and she was in awe, just staring for the few seconds it was in front of us coming our way and then when it went past. It took pretty much the whole runway to get in the air and was right overhead. So cool...can you tell I love planes too?

Yesterday, closed the pool and went to Sandusky to meet my family for an 18th birthday dinner for my nephew. Can't believe that one either. Time certainly flies.

Next week is K's 2nd shower, found out she is having a 3rd in C-Bus from her teacher friends. That is so nice. K has pretty much everything done as for her organizing, she is pretty excited. She got a lot done this weekend. And so the week begins -- have a great one!

once again...

Yes, better late than never. Busy weekend and busy week so far. I have Mac every day right now, I love it but I think it bothers her parents. Not cause she is with me just that she is with me. Got that? Ha! I think they think they are overdoing it with my time. I can take her with me if I need to go anywhere; just not the doc's. I need to get a flu shot they say - hmmm - never had one but guess it would be a good thing too. For her. She has a routine during the day and it works for me so...we work around that schedule.

K had her first shower this past weekend and really Kirby was poured upon. It was so nice. K and R have so many nice things to provide for their baby. Too much probably. The diapers from their diaper party, I don't even know where to begin. They need extra shelving in their basement to keep the diapers that will be worn when the child is 2. Unbelievable! I know they will get used but seriously the stacks are as tall as me. K did well, she was tired but she did a good job hanging in there too. A few returns will need to be made but only 7 items.

We will have Mac this weekend while mom and dad attend a football game out of town. R is so excited. I think we might take her to the airport to watch airplanes; she loves to watch them while outside way up high and she is a tracker. She hears a plane and looks up to find it in the sky. We are about an hour from the airport so they are up there but you can see the colorful tails of the planes. She finds them and points. We'll see how the weather holds.

I am trying to teach her to blow out a candle for her upcoming birthday. I have a candle stuck in a hot dog bun and I light it and have her blow. Too funny! We had a pillow fight today, it really is just rolling around on top of the pillow or covering her with the pillow, but she enjoys.

J was to have surgery today but things happened that made them cancel. I hope and pray that he will be all right. I really don't think I should visit though cause something is going on with my ears and I don't want to spread an infection in the hospital, so I will stay away for now.

Onward to finish the week out and have hopefully some fun and relaxation this weekend. Bye for now.

Still...

Still here just late again....oh well. Had a busy weekend; helping K & K/R get things done. Door hung, key holder, hooks, door knobs at one K. Then on to the other K; futon to school, painting, pics hung, basement cleaned and organized, bathroom clean, dusting and sweeping, furniture moved...hmmm, think that is about it. 10.1 bike ride and lots of fun over the weekend. Home on Sunday and then to complete our tasks at home. Mowing, laundry, R pack, dinner with Mac, J & K.

Since R is gone dinners will be sparse this week...
Tuesday - Chinese
Wednesday - Ham steak, macaroni salad
Thursday - Baked Potato
Friday - R home so we will see

This upcoming weekend is the first baby shower for K, excited for her and R. They will have lots to put together and lots to wash I am sure. Bye for now.

Let's see...

Where to begin - weekend was to be spent camping however with rain and J being called to China that just didn't work out. So instead we camped at home; G & J spent the night Friday and Saturday. Homemade pizzas on Friday and German food for Saturday. We missed the GAF due to camping and to save money R made potato pancakes with the recipe from GAF. So good and much less expensive and without all the amateur drinkers. Much more fun for us!

Yesterday was my bday and I had a lot of people call which was really nice. R was off and Mac was here, we had a good day. We went to the park to play with Mac, such fun! Went to dinner with J & K and Mac; it was good and fun too. Today I am heading to CBus to attend dr. appts. with K. She is struggling with this baby making. No really just the medical side of things.

Anyway - the menu....
Monday - El Camino
Tuesday - CBus
Wednesday - driving home
Thursday - Salmon, rice, veggie
Friday - Back to CBus

Hopefully this weekend we will be helping the girls get a couple of things done and taking a bike ride on Saturday or Sunday morning (maybe both). Need to get back on the excercise trail. Have a great week.

Again...

Again, I didn't post early this week. Sorry - just didn't feel like it I guess. We had a fun filled, labor intensive weekend. Spent it with family and friends doing all sorts of "work". Ceiling fan hung Friday night, move K on Sat. am, 3 ceiling fans hung at another house, bulletin boards finished for K since she can't climb on anything (belly too big and knocks her balance off - ha!), more work tried Sunday for K, gift purchased for the other K. We had to bring some of the work home as R didn't have a saw to cut a door to fit, original was damaged while moving the monster of a couch. A lot of laughter through the weekend making it a great time even with all the work.

I have this plan you see of having friends and family help each other to complete their "honey do" lists! It is boring and takes longer if you do it yourself so why not all help each other. Each month a weekend is dedicated to helping each other complete a task or many tasks at one or a number of homes. For those that don't know how to do something they learn and the skills of all are shared. How fun would that be? We need a commitment from all participating to continue to help each other and from there look what could be completed. Might keep us from procrastinating too.

Anyway - menu coming up.

Monday - BLT's and chips - help B with hanging a door.
Tuesday - Sausage, tomatoes and corn
Wednesday - Salmon, rice
Thursday - Salad (either taco or chicken)
Friday - camping so maybe pizza pie irons - yummmmmm!

Have a great rest of the week and weekend!

Late...

Better late than never right???? Oh well! R arrived home Friday am at like 6ish...slept for a couple of minutes after we chatted for a few. Lil Miss was to arrive at 8/830ish - and he was up again. Napped for a few while she napped only to have friends arrive for lunch on their way home from the concert the night before. Go Jimmy! Other friends arrived too and we hung out till about 4pm. Then another little nap for him before mowing. Saturday we hung out for a little while and picked Mac up to head to Cleveland for an overnight to make shower invites for K. It was fun to have her there and everyone get to see her and play. C, B and A enjoyed playing, swimming, piano/singing and everything else she got herself in to. She is a joy! She slept the entire ride there and was awake the entire ride back; she was so good both ways.

Menu this week:
Monday - stir fry - just meat and veggies
Tuesday - BLT's
Wednesday - Chicken Salads
Thursday - Sausage, Salad
Friday - heading to CBus

Moving K to her new condo this weekend and hanging ceiling fans for others. Maybe I will paint while they hang fans. Need to get that done! Have a great week!

Another...

Another week of R out of town. Guess what that means? Yep, no dinner plans except for Friday - he will be home early - a red eye in from the west coast. We didn't do much this weekend as he was home for less than 48 hours and he had chores to do. Mow the back is one of those - I just can't do that part of the yard. Front was done on Friday afternoon. And the neighbor man, J - he edged the front for me, so I swept for him! That was so nice of him.

R made pork roast this weekend, steaks and pork chops. I have many leftovers to eat. Corn, Cucumber salad, tossed salad are the leftover sides; I have fresh broccoli too. The best though, he made raspberry/blackberry pie with a kind of struedel topping. We had it Saturday night, friends were here for dinner. It was so good! It didn't hold together as pie but we ate it in bowls with ice cream, and he is gone so I get the leftovers!

Mac is here today and Friday - Poppy will be happy after sleeping a bit on Friday. He misses her a lot; he didn't get to see her this weekend and it made him sad. I want to take Mac to Sonic today cause I would like a cherry limeade. I have only had it once but I certainly want more! We'll see if the nap schedule works out with the happy hour at Sonic, if not, another day.

K had a dr. appt. today and she sounded so much better after this one than she has recently. BP was down a bit; heart beat was heard over her own; baby flipping again so makes her feel better. Here's to wishing she finds the answer to continue to relax. School starts in a couple of weeks for her.

Oh well, better get lunch before lil miss wakes up and wants my food as well as her own. Have a great week.

Wedding...

We went to a wedding this weekend and it was fun. Sat with the kids at the reception and they just have so much fun laughing and carrying on remembering all their high school days together. Too funny!

Sunday we had breakfast and had B & S over too so they could see the kids. Hung out for the afternoon and then went to what I would term "an engagement gathering". Yes, another wedding is in the works and will be held in the Czech Republic sometime early spring in '10. How exciting for mom and dad to participate in the planning of their only son's wedding. All the kids and Mac were there for the fun and to meet the bride to be. Our families have been so close over the years that it feels like one of your own is being married, sorta! Glad to not have to pay for another right now.

R will be traveling this week, leaves tomorrow; so dinners will be leftovers most of the week. And that is ok. I went to CBus last week and hung out with K as she is having difficulties with her bp. Trying to help as much as I can. We will go down again soon to help K move to her new place.

Dinner tonight is chicken and baked potatoes. Want R to cook extra chicken for my dinners later this week. He will be home Friday night. Have fun this week!

Done...

Done with all of it - R's dad's is better, still not good but much much better too! A new bed, storage for clothes, new clothes to be kept clean, things (many things tossed) - have to wait to see if it works. Otherwise another plan may be put in place, I sure hopes he understands this part. But all the attention was thrown his way this last week - and that is what he wants. Only time will tell. The others, I am done. Terrible situation.

Anyway, Mac is here today and tomorrow and she is a fireball. Napping right now.

Menu:
Monday - Hamburgers, homemade fries
Tuesday - Pork, corn on the cob, salad

The rest of the week I am on my own - R gone to CT, I think!

A wedding this coming weekend, looking forward to it. Haven't been to a wedding in a while and I really like weddings. To me weddings are better than the reception! Have a great week!

Monday, July 20, 2009

Later...

Yes, all weekend I was telling K "later" and she didn't like it...oh well. Later came and she got what she wanted - and how old is she???? Yep, dinner, fire, cards, movie, rollerblading (me only, not pretty). It was a filled weekend.

Friday - dinner with friends and kids and Mac; some would say enough drinking. We stopped before the out of control types started.
Saturday - breakfast, sun and reading; R to his dad's for clean up work; dinner with friends and K and card playing, fire w/s'mores, looking at stars
Sunday - breakfast, movie (R to his dad's), time with brother, sil and Mac to include lunch (R came for lunch), R back to his dad's; K and I reading and a little (very little) rollerblading to see if I could get used to it. R to his dad's hotel for dinner and a chat.

Meals:
Monday - sausage, salad, broccoli or broccoli quiche
Tuesday - Salad w/chicken
Wednesday - Egg Foo Young
Thursday - ???? maybe taco salad
Friday - Pizza

Have Mac on Wed and Thurs this week. Maybe J on Wednesday - that would be fun; if so a park might be in the works.

Need to get a job somewhere soon, let me know if you know of anything.

Want to eat this week?

I certainly do - tonight will be one of my all time favorites - and it is from Mom. She used to have to make so much of this cause all 7 of us ate and ate, and then Grandma lived with us making it 8; and if Aunt Lois and/or David came too we could be up to 10 people. Funny how you remember though, Mom died 6 yrs ago, Grandma 30 yrs ago, Aunt Lois 26 yrs ago and it seems like yesterday that I can picture the kitchen with the table set and the smell...

Monday - Wilted Lettuce with knepfles (no idea if this is how you spell this), I really don't care what else we have cause I only want the salad. Oh my gosh my mouth is watering....

Sidenote - Mom made me a cookbook when I was married; handwritten and placed in a three ring notebook 5x7" size. I love the book, although I do not cook, it is in my mother's handwriting and she had beautiful penmanship. If you asked her she would tell you too! The recipe for the wilted lettuce is in there, the knepfles, nope - had to get from my sister's book. She didn't make them the same.

Tuesday - Baked Spaghetti (Dinner to daughter's in laws on Sunday after a surgery in their house; we get the leftovers, ok by me) salad, bread
Wednesday - Chicken Salads
Thursday - R work picnic - not sure I will go since I have Mac but will find something quick if I don't
Friday - Hamburgers on the grill or homemade pizza; have to see if youngest will be home by then

Looking forward to the taste of the "R home"!

Missing...

Missing a post from yesterday however had my youngest still home from the weekend and she doesn't want me to do any computer or tv while she is here. Funny - all of a sudden she would rather sit and talk with me - who took my daughter. Really, it is fun to chat and I am so proud of her and R for riding in Bike to the Bay for MS. They did great...R did 75 miles per day and K did 50 miles per day. She wanted to cross the finish line with her dad so she sat at the last rest stop for over an hour just so they could finish together! She is so special. The other K was a little jealous, me too, for not riding with them. I just couldn't raise the money and K isn't allowed to ride like that due to Kirby(her unnamed baby)! Ha!

We had a good weekend - Put in Bay on Saturday night, dinner with kids and in-laws on Sunday.

Little Mac was a lot of fun yesterday, I had help with K still in town. K enjoyed the day of having her with just the two of us home because Mac just does her thing without lots of people around. It is different to be able to just watch and she comes to you when she needs something. She also plays in the yard and swings and stuff like that.

We will have family and friends over this coming weekend, a houseful! Always a good time but tiring just the same. It is supposed to be wonderful weather so can't wait for family, friends, food, fun, fireworks and maybe a fire! Yeah!

This week food is a struggle - just no energy, getting ready, and stuff! But we will eat....

Monday - Leftovers made into something I won't ask for again - Ok, but just not what I would want again - chicken, mexican rice, sour cream, salsa and cheese (I think that was it)
Tuesday - French toast, sausage
Wednesday - Salads
Thursday - Beef, potato and veggie
Friday - family in so will wait to see what is wanted; pizza sounds good

Have a safe and fun weekend! Happy Fourth of July!

Monday, June 22, 2009

Prepping...

We are in the prep week for Bike to the Bay for MS...we will ride this week however it will be more leisurely than all out push - R rode 25+ miles this weekend; I did not go as he said he was riding 50 - ummmm no! We had a good weekend - R home late Friday, like 930pm-ish from last weeks travels. Saturday, clean, yardwork, grocery, etc. and friends for dinner - tried out the new light with guests - I liked it. Sunday, R ride - me wait - he rode at 630am so it wasn't bad - breakfast, store to purchase special Father's Day meal goodies. J and K and the Mac came to dinner. Kabobs - hmmmm same as last year; we didn't realize at first. Mac went full into the pool with her mommy and I think she really liked it. It is a bit chilly in the water but it is so humid and hot the last couple of days so really refreshing. She was swinging, playing on the patio (need a better solution to the cement) and ate the same food we did - it was just a little mushier. Ha!

Menu for this week:
Monday - Father's Day leftovers
Tuesday - Salads
Wednesday - Brats
Thursday - Salads
Friday - Grill Pizza

Big day next Saturday for K and R - Bike to the Bay, 50 and 75 miles respectively. I am very proud of both of them already! I can't wait to see their faces upon return of their success! Wishing them all the luck!

Monday, June 15, 2009

New week...

We accomplished a lot this weekend - it seems as tho R got a lot done, I didn't feel like I helped much but....Light post in, garden planted, herbs planted, flower bed mulched in back, patio cleaned off again from all the tree stuff, yard cut, leaky valve fixed, laundry all done, 10 mi bike ride (R did 27 mis), feeders moved, vacuuming done, R packed (now gone), tables and power washer put away, I think that is all...

R is gone so dinners will be whatever I find, no big deal.

Not sure I will ride this week either, R took the truck that carries the bikes. We will see! Anyway, have a great week.

Weekend and menu

We had a great weekend shared with good friends and family - who happen to be the best hostess/es anyone could ask for...

Headed to the CBus area for the weekend to ride in an organized family bike ride in Waldo, The Hot Tamale Ride. Most of us were scheduled to ride 32 miles - one went for the 16 mile ride. All finished their course but me - hmmmm. I am happy I was able to make it as far as I did but disappointed; cause when you set your mind to finish you want to finish - right? Come to find out the ride was actually about 37 miles and I finished 31.5-32 miles, so ok, rode what I thought I set out to do - but still you want to cross the finish line. The ride was not "flat" as they stated and stops along the course, pretty much nonexistant. One stop for food and bathroom break, needed water stops - an improvement I will certainly suggest and thoroughly encourage.

Anyway, received a splotchy sunburn even after putting on sunscreen - yes the new med I was on states to stay out of prolonged sun exposure - guess I didn't read that too well. Most of us did get sun while riding but it wasn't really anything due to sunscreen we did put on before the ride.
Our hostesses put on a lunch when we returned that was wonderful; and then we sat around and played cards, chatted, relaxed and enjoyed the remainder of the day. Dinner was fabulous as always and we had so much fun!

Monday - Pork or chicken, roasted potatoes, veggie or salad
Tuesday - opposite of Monday, red pepper/onion sauteed with seasoning, rice
Wednesday - Breakfast for dinner
Thursday - out of town R on his own (funny if you know R - I will actually be on my own)
Friday - Homemade Grill Pizza

Might be back in CBus Thursday - it will be a last minute thing I am sure. Patootie on Wed - Thurs night if we go out of town. Would really like to get lamppost in on Saturday - guess we'll see! Have a great week!

Monday, June 1, 2009

This week

Today I am scheduled to go looking for vintage christmas bulbs with a friend - just because I have wanted to for a while (We did). I will watch Mac on Wed and Thurs - a different schedule but that sounds ok.

Want to ride tonight for about 10 miles(only rode 4.1) and then again on Wednesday - will wait on weather. It is raining right now but supposed to clear around 6pm - perfect! I need to prepare for Saturday - 32 miles in Waldo! A scheduled ride and R, R & K are joining - it would be great to have more but we will see.

Menu:
Monday - brats, corn on the cob, mango
Tuesday - BLT's, mango
Wednesday - Salads
Thursday - Spaghetti
Friday - on the road to biking event

My post didn't post so that is why updates are included - oops!

Limits

As my mom would have said she was the limit yesterday. So cute but she was in a mood, yes that would be Mac. Today she showed signs of pushing the limit so we have filled her day with things she hasn't done here before.

We were told by dad that in a developmental website he follows to have her kick a ball. Now she doesn't walk, or stand very well for that matter, but I held her and had her kick a ball. The first time I had to kind of swing her sideways to make her leg move to kick the ball. Fun times are being had by Mac and me. We also watched the garbage truck pick up trash. This is different too as our truck is automatic and lifts the huge can over the top of the truck to dump inside. So the huge rolling can needed to be brought back, and it is raining. Water doesn't hurt her so we went to get the can and have her get a little wet. She was funny when she was getting hit by the drops, she didn't know where to look.

Mac is napping right now and has been for about 1 1/2 hours - she will be up soon for lunch. I am going to try and sneak mine in before she gets up otherwise I might not get any.

Dinner menu has changed too -
Tuesday - Grouper, rice, green beans
Wednesday - Fast Fumi Salad
Thursday - Greek Chicken Pasta
Friday - Pizza (homemade)

We are riding on Saturday, a 17 mile trail - see if we can make the 34 mile roundtrip. Need to take a little food to have energy to endure the full mileage.

Leftovers

Yes, the menu this week will be lots of leftovers. We had a couple of barbecues with a birthday thrown in this weekend. We have actually had some of the leftovers already at the 2nd barbecue. Fun times and great weather.

R's bday was fun a long ride on Saturday of over 20 miles for me and 23/24 for K, J, J and R. G did over 16 miles. Then we were on to shopping a little for a maternity top I saw for $6 - can't go wrong there. Grocery and then home to cook for the bday party. Good food, good friends/family makes for good times. Missed others that couldn't make it but had a good time too.

Went to the lake on Sunday, lunch, boat ride and fishing and just hanging with in-laws and friends. Barbecue for Memorial Day at our house with more in-laws and playing a little with Mac when she came over for a little bit with her dad. No dinner last night just nibbled on popcorn. Kids made it home, although it was late and I'm sure it is making for a long day today.

So the menu this week is leftovers cause I can't throw it away! Sure we will have to add sides but it will be a short week too. Have a great week everyone!

Nothing -

I have nothing for a menu this week cause the cook is gone again, and will be next week too! Although his bday is Saturday so want to do something on that day. We will be riding I hear on the Wabash trail - we did 13 miles Sunday so looking to do about 15 for me/19 for him - hmmmm, maybe more. Barbie chicken sounds good.

It is the holiday weekend coming up too. I want to have most of the grass cut Friday when he returns so he can enjoy his day, but can't do too much of the back. Too angled and I almost took my leg off a couple of times so I don't do it anymore. A little more planting to do, but we had frost warnings last night so hopefully that will not happen again. Pansies seemed to do well.

Swing built this weekend for little Miss Mac, and she was in it today. I think she really likes it and gives us a little something to do outside; besides take walks that is. She is napping right now, she didn't nap but 20 min. this am. We went to the bank, and when we got out of the car all she wanted to do is stare at the traffic going up and down the road. She loves to watch the cars, trucks, motorcycles, and all of the other stuff too.

Gotta run, she is up again! Ouch not enough time to get anything done today.

Changing...

I think I am changing my mind for dinner tonight - I want breakfast. Poached eggs, ham, french toast/waffle and tea! It is rainy and cooler today so want to warm up a bit. Idol is on tonight and also America's Next Top Model final - thank goodness for a DVR. All my reality shows are coming to an end - what will fill my time now? R leaves next week again - gone all week. Lots of travel right now, not any different than any other year I guess.

Mac took a couple naps today - an hour this morning and about 45 min this afternoon; when Mom got here she had to wake her to get going. She will sleep good tonight, I would think, as she was awake for about 1 1/2 hours last night. A tooth is coming I think on the bottom right, left is through although not a full tooth yet. She was standing a bit today, when she thinks about it she falls. And she chased the dog today, Riesa is pretty patient I think.

Oh well, I will see Mac next week when she returns. Wonder what she will be doing then? Walking is going to come sooner than we all think, and I will be very nervous outside by the pool. She will permanently wear a life jacket with a handle on the back like dogs do - ha!

Another menu....

Monday - Pork Stir Fry
Tuesday - R has a dinner meeting so whatever I find
Wednesday - Chicken Breast, veggies, baked potato
Thursday - Broccoli Quiche (I really want this but may have to venture to make myself) - go ahead!
Friday - Pizza
Saturday - Steak, potato (not sure how fixed yet), salad
Sunday - Something on the grill

Went for a ride yesterday and we did about 10 miles, K & I - the others did about 12 - 12.5. It was windy - so we rode into the wind and had it more or less at our backs on the return.

BLT's for lunch with pasta and potato salad - R made lunch with K help. The other mom's didn't do much but laze around. First mother's day for K, she and R watched Mac while we rode. She has so much fun with her. They went for a walk and took the dog, I'm sure they looked like the new little family; little do people know that she really will have a baby this time next year. I can't hardly wait to watch them in action!

They went back to C-bus fairly early - not as early as I thought - but too much for K as she got sick when she got home. I hope this ends soon for her, I feel so bad! She has a little belly, I can see it, no one else would that doesn't know her. Date for the shower picked - October 31st - her lil punkin shower! Ha!

No cook --

The cook is gone for the week so no menu here - I'll eat what I feel like if I feel like! Everyone is gone or going to be gone this week. R to NJ; J/K to Baltimore (so proud); G/J to 2nd home - so I will be hangin' alone except for the dogs and little miss Mac later in the week. We went to do a little shopping today, the Mac and I, and stopped to see Cindy too. J/K worked today so I had my normal Monday best job of my life day. Mac will be with Nana till Wednesday night or Thursday morning. R home Thursday night so he will get to see her and hang for a little while. Yes, no dinner on Thursday planned either as R is home late.

Planted pansies yesterday and can't wait to see if they grow in the heat. The front flower bed gets so hot. Not much has worked out there even with the sprinklers running 2x a day.

I can't wait to hopefully see pics this week of the newest member of the family, Kirby - that is exciting. It is the middle child's bday on Thursday and she gets a special gift of seeing her baby. What better gift could you possibly ask for???? R's bday is next week so he gets his gift a little early.

Guess that is all for now - take care and have a great week. If you get a chance to look at kitchens on a blog visit here, http://www.kellyskornerblog.com/. I had so much fun looking, admiring, finding light fixtures that look good, etc.

Things change

So, things have changed on the menu for the week - R cannot eat but soft foods until Saturday. Yesterday was liquid and today is better, no meat, fruit or veggies. No fiber. So no oatmeal the breakfast of choice. Too many cuts inside that need to heal first. But overall he did well - slept the day away and then couldn't get to sleep last night. Today will be better.

Tomorrow is the balloon fest at UT, getting excited to take lil Mac. She was over last night and is just the cutest lil thing. She is laughing out loud a little more too which makes it too funny to watch her. Waiting on her this morning. The day is supposed to be chilly and wet so it will be an inside day for us.

Tough Menu - but a cutie too!

This will be tough this week because R is having a procedure that will keep him tied to the latrine.

Monday - grilled cheese for L, R is clear liquids and fleet
Tuesday - fried egg sandwich or something similar
Wednesday - solid food for R finally - Chicken, chunk potato, brussel sprouts
Thursday - beef roast, broccoli, salad
Friday - stir fry with leftover beef
Saturday - heading south
Sunday - returning from south or cookout

Thursday calls for hot air balloons to arrive at UT; going to try to take the little Mac and walk her around and watch the balloons. Should be colorful and keep her attention for a bit, plus being outside is one of her favorite things. She is getting so big!

Earth Day

Happy Earth Day to all, here's to hoping all of us find a way to help the environment today and to keep it in our habits going forward. Use reusable grocery bags for everything - easy change! Done! Recycle cans, water bottles (use a reusable water bottle if you can), baby food jars, etc. Done! Compost - I'm thinking about this, but either I don't know much or it just kind of grosses me out. Use cloth rags not paper towels (or if R has his way use microfiber) - do pretty well with this but have to get better. Use cloth napkins - Done!

What else could I do? Have to think about this.

Menu

We are home from Columbus and have to find things to eat today since we tried to clear the fridge before we set out for a "too short" weekend. We were able to ride bikes for about 45 min to an hour on Saturday with K. I don't think we were in the best of neighborhoods since most of the homes were boarded up, but in staying together we were ok. A funny part of the ride was when we went down a hill that looked like new pavement and it turned to go under a bridge we didn't realize it ended on the other side of the bridge and nearly had a pile up of the three of us because we were going so fast from coming down the hill! It was funny, but we also had to go back up that hill without any previous riding time to get some speed.

Monday - Spaghetti, sweet cream biscuits, salad
Tuesday - Sloppy joes, cottage cheese, chips
Wednesday - Chicken Breast, Rice, salad
Thursday - Bike ride first(supposed to be beautiful) Grilled cheese
Friday - Steak on the grill, baked potato, corn
Saturday - possibly to Columbus again
Sunday - ????

Have little Mac today and she is sleeping now but for most of the morning she was cruising around and getting into anything she could to keep herself busy. She is getting so big and I just love her so much. Happy Birthday to Lissie today!

It's Monday!

Great news over the weekend but will have to wait to share. Easter dinner was delicious, ham, pork loin, cheesy potatoes, veggies, salad, rolls/bread. Thanks goes to all the cooks: Ray, Ray and Becky. Mmmmmm, good. Easter morning brought baked french toast - odd texture at first and the fam not fans, it is growing on me so I am eating leftovers.

Menu for this week:
Monday - Ham and cheesy potato mix, salad
Tuesday - BBQ pork, salad - may take bike to Columbus for Kelsey
Wednesday - Salmon, rice, salad
Thursday - Homemade Pizza
Friday - dinner with friends, chicken salads; and Young "Frankenschtein" - bike ride first we hope
Saturday - Columbus for a softball tournament, bike ride, and maybe a cookout with hamburgers, etc.

Bike rides throughout the week as it is supposed to be some warmer weather. Got to get in the butt time.

Patooty will be here Tuesday and Thursday this week. If there is sunshine we will be outside for a bit.

menu - all things can change

R will be out of town so I will put together some weird things I know, and all will laugh if they get wind of what I really do, oh well.

Monday - Leftovers - made into a Meat Loaf sandwich - no popcorn R won't be there to make it!
Tuesday - Mac n cheese, sausage, green beans with friends
Wednesday - Baked Potato and broccoli
Thursday - ???? Have to think of something...spaghetti is what it was
Friday - Friends for dinner and "Young Frankenschtein" maybe if they can wait for R, putting this off for next Friday - maybe pizza, have a coupon that is really good and lovely pizza too.
Saturday - Easter Dinner - Wedding Shower in the afternoon
Sunday - Leftovers, if there are any!

I need to schedule PT this week; watch "cutie pitooty" Monday and Wednesday, clean for family coming in, lots of "to do" things.

We did a bike ride today(8 miles) before the weather went south, need to get butt time in before the Bike to the Bay in June. A new bike might help - yep it was easier to ride today, the seat was better and handlebars were better. Need to adjust those a little but still better. Have a new helmet too - early Mother's Day gift from K. She is sweet that way! Need a couple more things to make me more independent of others while riding, I'll get there. Both R and K rode off on their own today and were a little faster than me, that is ok too! Need to call C to get her in the loop on riding, maybe I will go for lunch one day and get her rolling. Much to look forward to!

Spring is getting ready...

Not out of the woods yet that is for sure - we have had plenty of April snowfalls in the past. Daffodils, Hyacinths, Crocus, Tulips all showing their pretty little heads in our yard right now - the Snowbells too but they have not flowered in the past so not holding out too much hope. The sun is shining brightly today and it should be about 50-55 degrees.

Bike riding today - need to start to get in shape for the Bike to the Bay. Going to try to ride the short course this year. I was jealous of Ray last year when he took off so want to participate. I'm sure it will be brutal if it is too hot or too cold that day. It is for a good cause too, MS awareness and fund raising. Should be fun! Hopefully, we will see a few things to remind us of spring and it's upcoming arrival.

We are celebrating St. Patty's Day today with a Jigg's dinner. Can't wait for the corned beef, smells so good already. Riesa is wearing her celtic scarf but will only eat dog food - so sorry. Hope all are having a good day!

Perspectives

Went to a viewing for Betty last night. Perspective: When Bert says he is 37 yrs. old - hmmmm. Charles died 15 yrs. ago and Betty and Charles would have been married 70 yrs. this year. Wow - I remember their 50th party and it doesn't seem like 20 yrs. ago, but it seems like Charles has been gone a lot longer. Why is that?

It was like old neighbor night tho - Barb, Bob and Linda, David - good times remembered. K used to want to go over to Betty & Charles porch almost every night and sit and talk. She so enjoyed them and they her. Never did they think she was intruding. And now she graduates from college in a couple of weeks, doesn't seem like that long since she was asking to walk across the street. Where does the time go? or how does it sometimes seem so slow? Is it just me?
